Today it is published six days a week along with the Asian and European editions by the Dow Jones & Company; the Wall Street Journal was first published on July 8, 1889.  The Journal primarily covers American economic and international business topics, and financial news and issues. Its name derives from Wall Street, the heart of the New York financial district. It has been printed continuously since its inception, by Charles Dow, Edward Jones, and Charles Bergstresser.  It merged with News Corporation (Rupert Merdoch) in 2007.

Here are a few of its milestones:

  • Largest newspaper in the United States by circulation
  • It has circulation of 2.4 million (including 900,000 digital) (March 2013)
  • 36 Pulitzer Prizes (First 1947 William Henry Grime’s editorials)
