The Assignment: The idea of Photo Fiction is write a story of around 100-200 words (which is also called Flash Fiction) based on a photo as a prompt. In this particular photo fiction, the story must be based on the photo below.’

“Yes Officer. Last night Judy called and she was very agitated. Before I could find out what was wrong, she screamed and her phone went dead. Her scream included one word, waterfront, ” said Mark
“That is not much to go on,” reasoned Officer Cass.
“It’s all we have. My brother and I have been canvassing the pier all morning showing Judy’s photograph but no one on the waterfront saw anything.”
“You say she was working on a big story for the newspaper but she was keeping everything hush?”
“Yes. All I could surmise is that it had to do with a local connection to a drug cartel.”
“I’ll talk to the boys down in narcotics and send a few men down to the waterfront.”
“Thanks.”
Across town in the basement of a newly constructed high rise, Judy worked at the ropes that rendered her wrists raw. She had to find a way out. She was angry with herself for not telling Mark more about her investigation. She could only hope that Mark heard everything she screamed into the phone and that the police would figure out that the public utility, City Water, front operation for the largest drug cartel on the east coast was connected in all levels of city government.
